An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your smartphone. Instead of buying and inserting a plastic SIM card, you download a mobile plan over the internet — usually by scanning a QR code or tapping an install link from your eSIM provider.

How does an eSIM work?

  • Purchase a data plan from an eSIM provider for your destination
  • Receive a QR code or activation link by email or in the provider app
  • Scan or tap to install the eSIM profile on your phone
  • Enable the eSIM line in Settings when you arrive — data works immediately
